Who: Kaitlyn and Gabriel What: Kait and Gabriel make contact with the other psychics When: Forwarddated to after Connor dies because we have too much stuff to get done in 9 days and Azzy won't let them leave the inn Where: Sewers under the city of Everett Warnings: No
This was their fourth or fifth visit to the crystal now. Neither one had liked being cut off from it when Connor had rampaged through town but now that he was taken care of, Kaitlyn and Gabriel were free to leave the inn again. Kaitlyn had actually been to the crystal more than four or five times. She had accidentally found it growing there in the sewer when she and Scott were forced to take refuge there because of a massive horde of zombies. A creepy hybrid had hunted them in the sewer but in the end the crystal was what Kaitlyn took away from the experience.
It never stopped being impressive, no matter how many times they stood in front of it. These kinds of crystals had a certain effect on everyone who came near them but especially on psychics. A dark crystal could damage a psychic for life. A dark crystal had turned Gabriel into a psychic vampire and had turned Frost and Jackal Mac into the psychopaths that they had become. This was not a dark crystal though. The energy it threw off was completely different than that terrible thing and it looked nothing like the dark crystal. This crystal was smooth and bright white nearly translucent. The dark crystal had grown creepy knots and gnarls and wasn't smooth and pretty at all.
Kaitlyn let out the breath she had been holding before she reached into her pack and pulled out the rolled up piece of sketch paper she had written down Azazeal's translation on. She had to spell it phonetically and had made him say the words several times so that she could write it down perfectly as to not make any mistakes. After all, she didn't know how to read or write ancient Kaji. But she could say what she had written on the paper, Azazeal had made sure that she was prepared for this. She didn't understand if it was a spell or a ritual or what she was doing but if there was a chance in hell that this could lead her to her friends than she was going to follow it.
Are you ready for this?
She looked up at Gabriel. She couldn't sense his walls up at all today which meant that he wanted to do this. She didn't know exactly why. He had always been so insistent that Lewis, Anna and Rob were her friends. He could never seem to accept that they cared about her too. Had he finally gotten over that or was he just here for her? It was hard to predict. He wasn't thinking about it so it was hard to say. Probably on purpose, she thought perhaps a bit too loudly since he gave her a look.
Quickly she held the piece of paper up, cleared her throat and said the words she had read there. As soon as she was done she waited for something to happen and... nothing did. They looked around and at each other in despair for a full two minutes before Kaitlyn spoke.
"I guess it doesn't wo-"
It was like that feeling Kaitlyn had when the plane was landing in California, taking her to the Zetes Institute. That pop she felt in her ears. It was painful and loud and that was what this felt like.
Kaitlyn? A familiar voice asked. Kaitlyn is that you?
Whoa. We found Kaitlyn? Another familiar voice. Tears filled Kaitlyn's eyes.
Kaitlyn, is Gabriel with you? Anna asked.
Yes, he's here with me. She smiled up at Gabriel and threaded her fingers through his. After all this time they finally found their friends.
