"Let me see your hand," she said softly to him. She held hers out and waited for him to give him her hand. She took him by the wrist gently and placed his hand right in front of the scar. "Do you feel the heat there?" Destiny was extra in tune with what was happening there but anyone, including your ordinary every day human could feel that this spot was giving off an unusual amount of heat. You just had to pay very close attention to it.
She released his wrist and sighed. She chewed on her fingernail for a minute as she looked at it. "I'm not going to lie to you." She looked up and each of them in the eyes as she spoke. First Talia then Derek then Lydia. "This is bad, epic levels of really bad. Whatever made that." She shook her head. "That's above most pay grades."
Dick Roman had screwed up a lot of people. She had spent months straightening Isaac out and he didn't have anything that cut this deeply.
"I've seen one of these before. Once. That story doesn't have a happy ending." Sometimes there were doorways into other worlds that could be carved into a person, just etched right out of their flesh. The last wolf Destiny had seen this with had succumbed to his hallucinations and eventually killed himself.
"You guys want to all take a seat?" She gestured around her living room and waited for the three of them to settle into the couch. She sat on a chair nearby and looked at them. What was she going to do with him? She hadn't been able to help the last one but she had learned a lot more since then.
"Something powerful has hijacked your body and it's using that scar to do it. You're a tool for them, a key to a different world or a lot of different worlds. I don't know exactly what is using you but it's not the leviathans. It's something else."
