Who: Peter and Priya What: a raid gone wrong Where: the airport When: now Warnings: here there be zombies
It was rare for Peter to go on a raid, but this was a local jaunt to the airport for supplies. Winter was supposed to be over soon, but despite Spring supposedly headed their way, the prison needed warmer clothes and toiletries. He'd been talking with Priya about it when she suggested going to the airport to look at what was left in luggage. It was a great idea, and they decided to be each others buddies and do it together.
The drive was a brisk one, and Peter could almost picture the way this place had looked before the world went to hell. It was a quiet drive, and they ran into zero problems reaching the destination. Priya took point with Peter following and covering her six. Both had their weapons and were on guard for any potential threats. It wasn't until they were inside and had split up to peruse the leftover baggage that something went wrong.
Peter was hip deep in carry on bags, toiletries on the left of him, warm clothes to the right, when he caught the briefest shadow moving out of the corner of his eye. Turning quickly, he had his weapon at the ready to fire if needed, but nothing was there. Not trusting it to be nothing, he quietly moved toward where he'd seen the movement. The path took him to the back of the luggage area.
It was dark, dank and showed signs of zombie activity at some point. The bodies in the back didn't look fresh, but that didn't make Peter feel any more at ease. This could still be a haunt for local zombies. As he stepped over some discarded bags to check a corner of the room, he tripped and fell forward. Stopping himself by slamming his hand on the wall, his mistake was immediately noticeable. An alarm went off despite Peter having no idea what was powering it. The sound and flashing lights drew attention to his location and the low moans grew louder as he seemed to be surrounded all at once by zombies coming from all locations.
He really hoped Priya was not facing the same threat as he began to fire on them and hoped he had enough ammo to see his way out of the mess he created.
