When Adrian didn't keel over or look doped up after taking a sip of his drink, Rogue shrugged and did the same. The taste was fantastic, it reminded her of the cocktails she and Kitty would sip at the mutant nightclub they used to sneak into on the weekends. A sense of longing filled her at the thought of her friend but she shook her head and refused to give into that. All she'd done was feel bad since leaving Stark's base and there was more than a good chance she would do the same tomorrow, so she set all of that aside and let herself enjoy the moment. Couldn't hurt.
She grinned at Adrian and let him take lead since he seemed to know what he was doing here. She followed him to the table of his choice and was grateful to see it was the blackjack table. She might not have been great at it but she at least knew the rules of the game and that was a hell of lot more than she could say for craps. Rogue set her drink down and took the empty seat at Adrian's right.
The second her butt was planted on the cushion, the same dizzy sensation passed over her. She would have questioned it but why spoil the mood? Rogue took her chips and carelessly bet a couple of them. The blonde had said the first few games were free so it wasn't like she was going to lose anything if she didn't win.
The dealer dealt out the cards with practiced motions and Rogue found herself eagerly reaching for her face down card when he was done. She flipped it and bit the inside of her cheek when she revealed a ten of hearts next to her two of clubs. The dealer patiently waited with a smile for Rogue to tell him if she wanted another. "Hit me," she told him with a sudden surge of confidence. He placed down a six of hearts with her cards and Rogue's smile brightened noticeably. Eighteen wasn't bad. She motioned for him to stop and reached over to take another drink from her cocktail.
They were just getting started but this was fun. More fun than she'd had in a long time. She got why Adrian's face had lit up the second they'd stepped inside. A few hours here would cheer anyone up.
