Rogue ran with Adrian through the woods, resisting to the urge to look back to see if they were being followed or if it was just a car full of jerks getting their jollies from scaring the hell out of whoever they happened upon. With her luck, they probably wanted to do more than scare them. She didn't hear anything behind them, though, but she wasn't willing to take the chance to wait and see if she was right and instead kept moving forward.
When Adrian tripped, he fell faster than she could react and Rogue's gloved hand met empty air instead of his arm. She quickly moved after him, but rather than skidding down the hill, she more or less floated down and joined him on the ground. She winced in sympathy at the sight of him but he was already on his feet so he couldn't be too banged up, right? "Probably not," she agreed and briefly glanced up the hill. The words 'are you okay,' were on the tip of her tongue but she saw Adrian's eyes fixed ahead of him and she turned to look.
Her eyebrows arched in surprise. A casino wasn't what came to mind when she thought about life after the apocalypse but then again, Everett did have a thriving bar in town so a working casino really wasn't that far fetched on second thought. "Want to take a look inside?" The freak with the car might be waiting for them to come out of the woods and she still had time before she needed to head back to Logan's cabin before he started to worry.
Adrian wasn't against the suggestion and soon enough they stepped inside. The atmosphere the complete opposite from outside, they were immediately flooded with warmth and the air practically crackled with excitement from all the people placing their bets, their cheers and groans louder than the music and chimes coming from the slot machines neatly lined up in rows on the far right. It was insane, Fangtasia hadn't catered to this many people when she'd been there.
"Welcome, welcome!" A bubbly blonde suddenly greeted them with an overly cheerful smile. "You guys are new right? Great! You came just in time, we're having a special for new clients. The first few games are on the house, so please, play whatever catches your eye and while you're at it, why not have a drink?" She deftly handed them each a glass of alcohol after someone sidled up to her with a tray full of cocktails and the like. "As long as you play, the drinks are on us," she happily informed them. "Have fun you two!"
Before Rogue could ask her how many games were free or what they were using as currency, the blonde had already disappeared in the crowd of people making their way from game to game. Alright then. She glanced down at the pink umbrella in her glass then over at Adrian, not entirely sure what to make of the situation. "I won't lie, I've never been to a casino before so this is all kinda new to me," she admitted while wondering if this kind of warm greeting was the norm before everything in the world had gone to pot.
