Who: Jack and Frost (heehee) What: Waking up with amnesia and going to fight cave monsters Where: A cave in the woods When: This morning Warnings: Creepy mutant psychics.
When Laurie Frost woke up that morning in Selene's house it was with a start. Her senses were on fire. She could feel the thread count of the sheets pressing up against her flesh. The smell of recently made tea was overpowering her sense of smell and the sounds from outside were nearly unbearable. She could actually hear the sound of snow flakes hitting the ground as snow flew around the Everett skies. She held up her hand in front of her face and stared at it for a minute, surprised at the detail there. She could see every line, every pore. What was going on?
She hopped out of bed quickly and was surprised to find that while she could feel the cold under her bare feet and she was only wearing a slip, the cold did not bother her. Her body was comfortable with the temperature when she should have been freezing her ass off. What the hell? She looked into her mirror and saw her eyes change from a hazy shade of sky blue to bright electric blue. Her mouth gaped open and she pressed her hands to her face, to this face she didn't recognize. Who was she?
Sitting back down on the edge of the bed she considered herself for a moment. What was her name? Where was this place? Was this her house? How come her senses seemed so acutely enhanced? She could almost live with that if she could only remember something about herself. What was her name? Where had she come from? Did she have any family? What was her favorite color? She couldn't think of a single answer to any of those questions and her mind spun dizzily out of control. The distraction of outside noises and sighs and smells made it hard to concentrate on who she was. How could a person just forget who she was? Did she hit her head? She couldn't remember.
Curling back up on the mattress she watched the sunlight filter into her bedroom for a few minutes when she remembered something. She sat up quickly in bed and tried to pry the memory out of her confusion. It was dark... somewhere dark and enclosed. She tried to back out of the memory a bit and saw the mouth of the cave yawning wide in front of her. She didn't recognize it or remember a single thing about it, but it was the only memory in her head. She had to go check it out.
Quickly she dressed in a pair of jeans and a dark blue sweater that matched her eyes. Her eyes when they looked normal, not that freaky electric blue they had changed into.
"Hello?" she called out into the house as she cautiously emerged from her bedroom. Nobody appeared to be home since her voice merely echoed all around the house and back to her again. She found a pair of boots by the door and she slipped them on before heading out into the woods. Her feet seemed to know where to go even if she didn't and it wasn't too terribly long before she was standing in front of that cave that she remembered. She sighed, feeling fear grip her by the back of the neck and threaten to face plant her into the snow.
"Here goes nothing," she said as she walked into the cave.
