Rebekah stopped clear in her tracks when Lissa told her to wait. She was a different kind of vampire than Rebekah and while Rebekah usually tended to believe that she and her brothers were superior, the originals after all, she understood that other vampires had different gifts. She was still hoping she would learn to fly one day. She would leave the magic to the Moroi but in the moment it was coming in quite handy.
She followed Lissa and stared at the ball of light hovering just above the pedestal. "This is the battery. It's powering the entire maze. Who in the bloody hell put this here for us?" Again, Rebekah had so many enemies she couldn't even wager a guess at who would do this to her. She was willing to bet Lissa had her fair share of enemies too. They just had to find one they had in common.
"Well, let's give this a try."
She reached in and grabbed the ball of light and immediately pulled back, swearing. The blasted thing burned like nothing else she had ever felt. She looked over at Lissa who was mortal. Rebekah could hear her heart beating from where she stood. There was no way Lissa would be able to stand that kind of pain but whatever didn't kill Rebekah made her stronger.
She gritted her teeth and grabbed the large growing orb. It immediately began to burn into the flesh of her hands and as she picked the heavy object up it burned her face, her arms and her chest. She screamed in pain as she dropped the orb on the ground and watched it shatter into pieces.
The maze disappeared around them and Rebekah closed her eyes. She wasn't feeling so great.
"What do you say you and I go to Katherine's and get a quick pick me up, love?" she barely whispered.
