Lissa quickly followed Rebekah but her heart fell when she saw that the entrance had been closed off as well. The jump was higher than any dhampir could have ever gone but it still wasn't enough. The walls kept on growing higher and higher. How was no one else in town seeing this? Were they alone?
No, apparently not.
Staring at the man Rebekah called her father made Lissa pause. There was a stake in his hand which seemed strange but then again her uncle had tortured her to heal him so family was always a little more complicated than what it appeared to be. They had to find a way out of here and fast.
"Your father by chance isn't already supposed to be dead is he?" Lissa asked and Rebekah's face confirmed her suspicions. There were ghosts here and she didn't understand why but it didn't matter as long as they could get out of there.
"If it weren't for me you wouldn't even know what you are capable of," Victor said and appeared in front of them again next to Mikael. Natalie was walking around them in circles staring back at Lissa and Rebekah with red-ringed eyes. "You and your friend Rose wouldn't have your precious Dimitri back. You helped her commit crimes all for the greater good. We're not so different, you and I."
"I'm nothing like you," Lissa spat back angrily.
"No, you're nothing but a whore who needs to confess her sins." Another voice spoke out from behind them. Lissa didn't have to turn around to realize it was the priest that had gotten into her head that night. And Colleen's. And Nathan's. Funny how Nathan had been the strongest out of all of them and he worried about himself the most.
"They're dead. They're all dead and they can't hurt us." She said to Rebekah but also to herself.
"I was dead before," Caleb said with a sneer and then look at something beyond both of the girls. "But they aren't. Well, technically they are but they can sniff out your sins and punish you both for them all the same."
Confused, Lissa looked back and saw four Strigoi approaching slowly. They looked at her like she was a filet mignon and maybe to them she was. Strigoi preferred Moroi blood above all else and as queen she was the cream of the crop.
"We need to run. Maybe there's an exit on the other side." Rebekah might have been a powerful immortal who didn't easily die but Lissa wasn't. Her first instinct was to run, but for now she stayed at the other vampire's side.
