"I've never seen him take anyone who wasn't dead," another said. Conflicting stories. Fantastic.
"You wanna play dead, Robin?" Temple asked. It was clearly up to the two of them to get everyone out of this here mess. She wasn't sure what it was about the two of them that made them so much stronger than the other girls. Was it luck or life or circumstance? Had they just not been down here long enough to lose their minds and their will to survive? Those were questions that Temple would spend a long time pondering on those sleepless nights back in Everett.
"I got a scheme all my own." While Robin played dead, Temple was eyeballing the tools up on the walls. While she couldn't reach them herself there was a girl chained to chair real close to them. She wasn't looking so hot. Her face was all sickly pale and her eyes looked sunken in but Temple thought she might be able to motivate her.
If Josh fell for Robin's scheme than Temple could get herself free with one of the bolt cutters on the wall. She could get everyone else cut loose and then they could all run to Robin's rescue or more likely they would all just run and Temple would go rescue Robin.
If Josh didn't fall for Robin's idea than Temple's idea still might work. They just had to hope to catch Josh by surprise upstairs.
