Molly approached the inn with a gift for Liliya. She wanted to come and see the baby sooner but she knew Viktoria and her little girl needed some rest and that the inn was a full house. It just so happened that she had the day off from the kitchen, there weren't any flying lessons scheduled for raiders in the Leapfrog and Molly was determined to enjoy the day. Especially since she'd had strange dreams all night the night before. Molly couldn't remember the last time she had dreamed about the night in the underwater vivarium. It was one thing to talk about it - to explain it with her eyes open and her mind alert enough to make sense of it all. When she was awake she could process it and even accept what happened and when she was awake Molly could think about the deaths of all of their parents rationally.
In her dreams though it was a whole other story.
Sometimes she had a stray dream about one or both of her parents but they were fleeting and usually they didn't speak but last night it was as though she was reliving every moment from the time they first went under the water to the time they came back up and were met with a wall of police. It was like she'd been locked in. Ever since then the hairs on the back of her neck had been standing up. Living in Everett she had kind of gotten used to being on the look out for the next terrible thing that was coming but she didn't have any idea beyond a bad night's sleep and a paranoid kind of feeling so she kept it to herself. She took a deep breath when she reached the front door and pushed her dark thoughts back behind the walls she was learning to construct in her head.
Molly rapped lightly on the door before pushing it open and poking her head in. "Viktoria?" She called softly. She didn't want to run the risk of waking up the baby so instead of calling out louder or knocking again she let herself in. When there was still no answer, Molly set down the baby present on the table in the hall and carefully walked up the stairs. She remembered where the nursery was from the morning after Malachi's succubi thing wore off and she figured Viktoria might be there. But with each step Molly felt more and more on edge like she was walking over someone's grave.
