The fighting was easy. It wasn't easy having her as his opponent, not when this wasn't just a training session, but he didn't let himself think about it too much. He knew how fucked up things could get if he let things get out of control, and he had to do this. If it would save her, he'd do whatever he had to.
But, as much as Logan tried to stay focused, tried to do what he could to prevent this thing from winning, it never crossed his mind that he could be fooled. Not like this, even if it was so damn obvious as he landed on his back, and it was frustrating as all hell to find himself on the ground. He should have known better, but fuck, he could kick himself about it later. He was trying to figure out a way on getting her off of him when he noticed her hand shaking. Was this another trick?
One look in her eyes and he knew. He could recognize that look, those eyes, and he felt his heart twist into knots. Especially as she asked him to knock her out and it felt as if the air was knocked right out of him. Flashbacks of Jean crossed his mind, standing in front of her as she begged him to save her. Rogue was just asking him to knock her out, but he didn't want to hurt her.
"No, kid, I--" Her staying like this was worse for her, and it made his voice did down. Was she right? Would knocking her out help her? There were more questions than answers, and his glare quickly dissolved to the concern that he felt for her. Because, for the man that was sometimes more animal than man and that had a horrible way of expressing an emotion that wasn't just rage, his love and concern for her was reflecting in his eyes.
"I'm sorry,", he said quickly through gritted teeth as he mentally braced himself for what he had to do. "You come back, alright? You hang on, kid."
And, before that thing took over again, he reached to grab her shoulders in order to slam her down with enough force that it would hopefully do the trick.
