The leviathans she'd touched when she'd first arrived in Everett were in full control of Rogue's body. They'd been patient, biding their time for the perfect moment to surface, it hadn't been all that hard really. The other personalities within her had done the dirty work of removing her from the prison and had even pitched in to help take some of the brunt of the chemicals that had been injected into her system when the stupid girl had let herself get caught. The unexpected abduction had actually worked in their favor, however, not only had it made Rogue mentally weak, it had affected the others in the same fashion as well, letting them slip in to the forefront without having to fight for control.
As soon as they had walked away from the playground, they set out to find someone, anyone with enhanced abilities to help them better protect this body. It was made all too clear that they were vulnerable and downright helpless if their hands were tied down. Once the sun had risen overhead, it had all come together. They spotted a brunette not long after they had walked to the nearest town, she was alone and they had nearly overlooked her until she'd reached underneath her car and lifted it over her head as if it wasn't heavier than a beach ball. Now that was useful. They waited until she'd put the car down before approaching her with a limp and tears in their eyes, begging for help.
It was embarrassing how quickly the brunette had fallen for the act. Hadn't the mortals learned anything after the zombie outbreak? It was almost enough to turn them off of stealing the naive girl's powers. Almost.
"I hate asking since you already agreed to give me a ride, but do you think you could help me get inside? I think my ankle's sprained." They looked shyly at the woman, Sam, as if embarrassed that they had to ask for help for this too.
"Oh, damn, of course! I should have probably offered you a hand when I saw you limping." Sam flashed them a sheepish expression and reached out to take hold of their hand.
Their hands were only inches apart when they heard a familiar voice call out Rogue's name. Their jaw clenched in irritation. Really? What were the chances of them being found now?
"Who's that? Do you know him? Because I think he's talking to-"
Sam didn't get a chance to finish, they bypassed her hand in favor of placing their palms flat on Sam's cheeks. The effect was instantaneous, her veins bulged and she looked down at them in confusion and fear as they not only absorbed her mutation but drained her of her life energy. "We were going to go for subtle, but you can thank him for this approach."
It wasn't long before the light in Sam's eyes faded and her breathing stopped. But it was long enough for Logan to come within arm's reach of them. "Aww, did you want to play the hero? Too late, she's dead," they told him cheerfully as they let the body drop down at their feet.
They moved forward and didn't hesitate to use Logan's brief pause of confusion to land a solid blow to his chest, knocking him down on his ass a few feet away. "It was sweet of you to find us, though, immortality is something we can use." They removed the jacket and tossed it aside on the ground, exposing the skin of their arms. "Do yourself a favor and don't struggle, it'll be easier on all of us."
