Who: Rose and Damon What: Going after Gossip Girl When: Last night after the Halloween Party Where: The woods Warning: Language, violence, the usual.
Rose had always liked a good party. Yes, she gave Adrian a hard time for drinking and smoking his cloves but that was because of how he did it. Well, she didn't approve of smoking at all. But she had nothing really against drinking, unless it was a coping mechanism for dealing with other things. Rose knew better than anyone just how dark spirit could make a person. She had been drunk on spirit herself when she had killed Victor Dashkov. She had spent so much time pulling the darkness of spirit away from Lissa she hadn't even realized she'd been destroying herself in the process. She understood why Adrian drank to cope but she just didn't like. Considering everything she was just glad to be his friend again though and knew she had no right to tell him what to do or not to do. The contract was null and void the minute she stepped out on him. She knew that.
She was putting on a good show at this party even throwing on a last minute cat costume that Penny had picked out. It basically entailed wearing a skin black suit with cat ears on a headband. Rose figured she could just toss the cat ears aside when she was ready to bounce and she'd be all set for her top secret mission to kill Gossip Girl. Well, maybe not kill. Killing Victor had taken it's toll on the dhampir and he had done nothing but give her reasons to kill him. He had targeted Lissa and Rose's one goal in life had been to protect her best friend. They come first. Now that Lissa wasn't around, it had thrown Rose's priorities out of whack. There was still Adrian to look after and she would do that by instinct and not just because he was possibly the only remaining Moroi royal on Earth but because he was her friend and she loved him. But the person Rose most fiercely wanted to protect was the person who had told her not to go after Gossip Girl.
Seriously, who did this bitch this she was anyway? Hiding on the network, airing everyone's dirty laundry for others to see. Dimitri was doing his best to protect everyone in the prison and didn't need the added aggravation of Gossip Girl letting everyone know about his past. Rose personally didn't want his past dredged up either because of the implications. She had easily and long ago forgiven him for what he had done to her but had he forgiven himself? That was always the question. She didn't need any relapses in their relationship now that they were together and happy.
Love fades. Mine has.
Rose was in a dark mood but she put on a happy face for everyone at the party and even danced to a couple of songs. It would have been nice to let go, let her hair down and party but tonight wasn't the night. Tonight was the night for Gossip Girl to go down. And since she couldn't actually kill her, Rose was going to have to come up with something else for her. Maybe Damon would have some ideas.
The party raged on and as the night drew into the late evening, Rose followed Damon out into the hall and ripped her stupid cat ears off. "Are you ready to go?" she asked him quietly.
