Willa missed the sunlight sometimes. She remembered laying outside on her balcony letting the sun rays hit the skin around her tank top. She would sometimes read but other times she would just sit there and let the sun bake her. Her father was so protective she couldn't go to the beach with her friends like normal kids did. He was too afraid that something would happen to her because of his controversies as the Governor of Lousiana.
In a way the apocalypse had freed Willa. She thought for sure she would die when the vampires, not the zombies came looking for her father and his family. If it hadn't been for Niall, she would have perished in the Governor's Mansion for sure. Niall had been her introduction to other supernatural creatures with his strange affectation and his pointed ears. Willa would always remember him as her savior.
The conditions of an apocalypse were harsh and Willa had managed to mask her identity as the governor's daughter until she was far enough away from Lousiana where it didn't matter anymore. She had learned to survive and being no great fighter herself, she had begun making deals with vampires in exchange for protection, her blood. Willa had never shared her father's view on vampires and she thought that they, like humans could choose whether to be cruel or to be kind. Some were without a doubt pure evil monsters but others were nice. Like Nora.
Katherine had been her next savior, taking her into her house, cleaning her up and feeding her and giving her a job and a warm bed to sleep in. Katherine's estate was nothing short of pristine and Willa had made many friends there, both vampires and human during her stay. She had seen many clients including Eric and Tara and Pam but Nora had always been her favorite. She and Nora had a special connection from the first time they spent the night together, fueled on blood and sex. Afterwards they had spent hours talking, all night. Willa looked forward to the nights that Nora came to the brothel. Which was why it had been so startling when gentle Nora had turned on her that one fateful night.
She would be lying if she said that she had never fantasized about being Nora's vampire. She had, several times for hours on end. She just hadn't expected it to turn out the way that it did. She couldn't regret her life now, or her death depending on how you looked at it. She was strong and fast and powerful. She knew that any of the older vampires could rip her limb from limb but she no longer had to fear the zombies and that in itself was a relief. Nora had made her powerful and Willa wanted to prove to her maker that she would be a good vampire.
She laid awake in her coffin for a few minutes before sunset until she heard Nora moving around and then she got up too. It had been a packed house lately with Eric and Godric staying but Willa didn't mind. So long as Nora was happy, she was happy too. It helped that Godric was really nice and Eric had been respectful of his sister's progeny.
She smiled at her maker as she climbed out of her coffin. "What are we doing tonight?" she asked curiously.
