A few days ago a group of people had settled in another suburb of Seattle. They had discovered the prison and immediately sent out an SOS needing medical help and also someone who could fix their generator. Some people might have taken the callous opinion that they were on their own and if they didn't want to come to the prison it wasn't their problem. But Priya figured that they were all just trying to survive and what kind of person would she be if she didn't offer help. She probably could have taken the whole thing on herself, her different imprints allowed her many different skillsets but Dr. Janine Gawas was the one she used the most often and was the easiest for Priya to slip into. Sheldon Cooper seemed to have a similar opinion when he offered to come along and help with their generator.
The two of them had taken Tony's truck and headed out to help the new colony. Priya wasn't sure what to expect especially since Sheldon was so off putting to people. Luckily at least three of her imprints were geniuses who could easily converse with him. The people they met with were all very nice and non-threatening and Priya attended to their medical needs while Sheldon fixed the generator so they could have power. Their colony was a bit primitive and Priya tried to convince them to come back to the prison but they were simply uninterested. They were good hosts though and Priya and Sheldon were both comfortable for the night they spent there.
After the generator was fixed and the sick had been tended to, she and Sheldon climbed back up into the truck and headed back to Everett. They were about a quarter mile away from the prison when they got a flat tire. She could have called for help on the network and in hindsight she maybe should have. But Priya was a strong and capable woman thanks to the Dollhouse and she could change her own tire. She handed Sheldon a handgun and told him to keep a lookout. She could tell he was nervous but everyone in the prison was required to learn how to shoot so she knew he knew how to handle the weapon even if it made him nervous.
She propped the truck up and grabbed the spare out of the back. She was lugging it back around to the front when she heard the first shot fired. Instantly she dropped the tire and raced back to where Sheldon was pulling her own handgun free. She had expected a few zombies maybe which would be no problem but they weren't staring at a zombie.
It was a man in a long dark robe. No, man was the wrong word, his face was distorted. He was some kind of demon and Sheldon's bullets did nothing to slow him down. He walked straight towards them even as Priya unloaded an entire clip into him. He grabbed Sheldon by the neck and pulled him off the ground. Priya could see him kicking and hear him choking as she grabbed the tire iron and started beating the crap out of the guy but he didn't loosen his hold on Sheldon.
"Where is The Nemeton!" the creature demanded.
"It's by the lake on the other side of town. You're in the wrong place!" Priya cried out. "Let him go!"
Sheldon's struggles had weakened by then and with one quick snap his neck was broken and the monster dropped him to the ground. The creature whirled around on Priya but she was already a step ahead of him. There was no time to mourn Sheldon now. Using a two by four that Tony had in the back of the truck, Priya nailed the demon in the face with it. He roared angrily and she quickly swiped up a molotov and jumped out of the bed of the truck and started running.
"Don't you run from me!" The creature shouted.
Priya suddenly turned around. "Oh, I'm not." With that she lit and tossed the molotov. The robe that the demon was wearing was extremely flammable and went up in flames in mere minutes. He screamed as he flailed around trying to bat the flames out. Priya didn't stick around to watch him die. She raced back to the truck and knelt beside Sheldon. Her fingers went to his pulse point but there was nothing there. He was dead.
"I'm sorry," she whispered as she struggled to lift him up and put him in the back of the truck. She could no longer hear the shrill screaming of the demon she had set on fire but she didn't assume he was dead which was why she drove all the way back to the prison on the rim instead of changing the tire. There was just no time.
She left Sheldon in the back of the truck after she parked it around back and headed inside the prison. She was't sure if she should track down Faith or one of the council members. She knew there was nothing medical could do for him or else she would have already done it. Healers didn't heal dead people as far as she knew.
She was looking for Tony, she wanted to tell him first and then he could help her with the rest but she found herself running into Penny instead. Damn it.
"I'm sorry," she blurted out. She wanted to cry but had no tears in her. Maybe later. She had the feeling Penny was about to cry for both of them anyway.
