Finn hated Kurt right now.
He hated that Kurt had left. Like, really hated it. But he hated that Kurt had put him in this stupid position and left him to clean up his damn mess more than that. Kurt was a friendly guy, and he knew a lot of people. He knew a lot of girls, actually, and all of those girls were pretty pissed off. And since Kurt wasn't around for them to be pissed off at, they were pissed off at Finn instead. It sucked, and it really tried Finn's patience. He hadn't freaking sent Kurt away. He was a grown up guy, and he had decided to go look for his dad. Finn had pleaded with him, threatened him, even offered to go with him, but he wasn't having it, and he'd left.
He'd left Finn sulking and miserable last night, and he'd even lied to Rachel, claiming he was tired when he went quiet, because he just didn't want to break her heart. Maybe his way had been insensitive or wrong or whatever, but it had gotten the news out to everyone all at once. Now he just had to deal with the fallout.
Rogue's message had really helped him. It made him remember that he had done the right thing. Kurt loved Burt, more than anything else. He would never have been happy not knowing what had happened to him, and if Finn had stopped him? He probably would have gotten angry and gone anyway. That was just how he was, and it made Finn feel confident that he'd done the right thing letting him go, whether people liked it or not.
He was off sentry duty tonight, and after he'd messaged Rogue, he pocketed his cell phone and headed up to the gate to meet her. That walk really did sound awesome right now. He needed to clear his head and talk to someone who didn't want to bite his head off. Rachel hadn't seemed mad, but he just wasn't ready to face her again. Not yet. And this was the perfect excuse.
He smiled when he saw Rogue approach and lifted his hand in a small wave. "Hey. Thanks for doing this."
