Who: Jill, Lissa, Adrian, and the others in the inside fight Where: inside the Inn When: early Christmas morning Warnings: Violence
Jill had been sleeping next to Adrian when the sound of a window shattering woke her up. In an instant it seemed the Inn came alive. Shouts to stay inside. Shouts to go out and fight. Stay down.
She heard that from Malachi as he tore past them in the hallway. "Stay down and don't let Viktoria leave."
Why would Viktoria leave? Adrian was already in motion. Usually he was the hardest to wake up, but not now. The tall Moroi was alert and moving Jill toward where Viktoria was gathered with Rose, Lissa, Christopher, Kaitlyn, and Gabriel in the sitting room. The cowboys had their shotguns drawn and ready. Rose had her weapons. The others had their abilities, but this was the inside group. Christian and Dimitri had ran out at the first sign of an attack, and Rose was there to protect the others if any got in. Guardians were trained to split up when situations like this happened, and Jill knew it had to be hard on them both.
The fierce look on Rose's face made it clear anything outside that door would have to go through her to get to the others. The boys had a similar look and Adrian...
She remembered him looking that way before. Always when the people he loved were in danger. They hadn't really talked about their fight, both figuring it would be best to wait after the holidays. Now she had a sudden urge, no a need, to make amends. "Adrian," her voice was so low as she spoke, but she knew he could hear her. "I'm sorry."
His green eyes flickered with emotions, but he shook his head slowly at her. She knew he was right. This wasn't the time. They had to keep their defenses up. They would settle it when it over. Christina seemed to appear out of nowhere and she looked deadly and pissed off. That took Jill's attention away from what she had been trying to say to her boyfriend. The tiny blond took a combative stance in front of Viktoria.
The fight outside was growing more deadly. They could see demons falling and fire burning. Christina smelled like fire. Had she been close to Christian in the fight? Why had she come back in? There was no time to ask the questions because the Inn shook and suddenly three demons made their way in. One was tall, scaly, pale sickly yellow with claws for hands. The other two could pass for human. They carried blades and guns. It seemed like such a stark contrast to their scaly companion.
"Don't touch her. You know who she belongs to." The woman of the two human shaped ones said. Their eyes were on Christina. "The others are fair game, and the one with child comes with us."
