Who: Lynda/OPEN What: Taking a break When: Today Where: Her trailer at the prison Warnings: Doubtful
Lynda moved through the tiny trailer quickly burning a small bundle of herbs and chanting quietly under her breath. It wasn't anything more than a cleansing ritual but it felt like a good time to do it. Hearing what happened out in the woods Lynda felt a profound sadness. Yes, many lives were restored but the delicate balance of nature was off and the girl responsible for it had lost her life. It was something Lynda had seen again and again over her lifetime. People who had the gift for magic who got in too deep, and she understood how it could happen. It wasn't that she believed the power corrupted them, Bonnie's intention seemed pure enough - to bring her friend back from the other side after an untimely death. The problem was once you started looking at the magic as a kind of mystical hammer to pound loose what you wanted from the universe then everything started to look like a nail.
People died too young and they died tragically and everyone lost someone who shouldn't have had to go. But that was the way of the world and the danger came from thinking you could undo that. Actually, the danger came from knowing that you could and not knowing that you shouldn't. In the end the thing that separated the old witches from the dead witches was wisdom.
Would she feel that way if it had been Nicolae stepping out of those woods? She liked to think yes. Nicolae wouldn't have wanted to live in this ugly world and she didn't want it for him either. As much as she missed her father and as much as she knew Peter still missed the old man Lynda would never wish an unnaturally prolonged life on him. Nicolae's life had been full of troubles he earned his rest. It was also troubling to Lynda that the young weren't the only ones to come back. Centuries old vampires had walked back through as well thus cheating death a second time.
Lynda breathed deeply of sage and other herbs and consciously let go of the pit of sorrow and regret that settled in her gut. It wasn't up to her to do anything just be in the world as it was and embrace it. Keep her own home clear, love her family blood and otherwise and be blessed.
Finished with the ritual, she set on a kettle for tea and turned on some Bob Dylan for company.
