Sometimes Rogue forgot that Isabel was an alien and to have made it this long, she and her brother must have been excellent at keeping secrets. It was one less thing to worry about and it firmed her resolve to go to Max for a healer. "Thanks."
She opened her mouth but just as quickly shut it and shook her head with a look of doubt. "I have no idea." And she didn't want to find out anytime soon. She could only imagine what she would get from touching a zombie, their hunger, their mindlessness? She shuddered at the thought. It was definitely something she wished to avoid if she could help it. "Okay, I can do that, I can get passed this." Rogue took comfort in Isabel's vote of confidence, feeling much warmer towards her than she ever had before.
At her roommate's prompting, Rogue concentrated on the image of her school once more. This time around, however, her thoughts were of the first class she had taken when she'd met Bobby and John. Both boys had made her feel welcome, and remembering that along with the thrill of seeing abilities from kids her own age easily allowed Rogue to immerse herself in that specific moment. It took a few attempts, each time the room flickered in and out, and a lot of focus before the classroom actually took shape around them and stayed that way. It wasn't a typical class setup, there were long tables and a chalkboard, but the room was filled with wall to wall plants, ceiling-length windows, and there was even a small fountain. It was one of the rooms that made it clear to anyone that the school used to be nothing more than a mansion.
Rogue's face lit up as soon as she was sure she had gotten it right. "I actually did it!" She shot Isabel a pleased smile and wandered over to the desk she'd shared with a couple of other girls. The room just held the two of them but that was more progress than she could have hoped for. "Oh my god, even this is here," she murmured. Rogue picked up a sizable chunk of ice in the shape of the head of a rose, the petals detailed and perfect, it almost looked like it was made of crystal.
"I don't know how long I'll be able to keep this up but I can give you the tour." It was a far better memory than the one of Jimmy and she could use the distraction if Isabel was willing to indulge her.
