Even if Darla had already gotten her fair share of second chances, she never expected another one to come up. Not in the form of a witch that was trying to save another vampire. Not in the form of her becoming a gateway for the vampires in Everett to find a way back to the realm of the living.
Darla was too selfish to think on whether or not to take the chance. Despite how long she had lived, and despite the burden of the soul that she had been given the last time, she still wasn't ready to die. The only hesitation became on whether or not she would be allowed to keep even a shred of a soul, considering it might mean not feeling the love that she felt for her son, but she didn't want to be dead. She had made a promise to Connor that she wouldn't leave him, and she didn't want to back out of that promise. She wasn't ready to leave her boys, and as soon as it became her torn to use the witch as her escape from this hell of being nothing more than a ghost, she took it without apologies.
The change in the environment threw her off, and she blinked dizzily as her senses sharpened back to normal. Not to being a human, no - she was still a vampire. She could feel her old strength surging through her body, and even if there was death and commotion going on around her, there was a sense of disconnect that didn't allow her to even register fully what was happening.
Because she could feel it. There was no heartbeat in her body, but she could feel the soul that she wasn't sure she would cross with burning within her. A part of her was disgusted by it, hated the weight that she could feel making her body heavy...but her thoughts raced to Connor. Her baby. Her son, she would be able to hug him, and protect him. She would be able to be his mother, or at least try to, and she felt her throat close up at the realization of what this second chance meant.
Darla was still a vampire, so she couldn't say that she was alive, but she was corporeal again.
