Rose wasn't all too sure about crossing over again into the realm of the living. On the other side, there was no pain, no sadness, and no regret. There was truly nothing on the other side at all, but other ghosts. It was freedom in the closest sense of the word and Rose found peace there; a piece she hadn't known in a long time. She had never wanted to be a vampire, never wanted to outlive her family and then Trevor. She wanted to be human and die of old age. Rose wanted to run with the horses on the farm and breathe fresh, cool air into her lungs. In her final moments, Damon gave her that humanity back and it was the most lovely thing she'd ever experienced. If she could have, she would have thanked him, but by then, she was dead and gone. At least, she'd managed to tell him later it wasn't his fault; he had done the right thing in staking her and easing the pain.
Bonnie opened the gate, but it wasn't the desire for freedom that pulled Rose back. She'd managed a smile for Bonnie, a refusal on her lips, but then there was the one thing that could tug her back. It was the sight of Damon, bleeding on the ground that did it, and she walked through with blue eyes locked firmly on his fallen figure. "Damon!? She called, realizing, for the first time, that her voice echoed in the night like it hadn't since before death. "Damon!" She blurred over and knelt beside Lexi, her best friend currently tending to the injured vampire. She was alive again. She could smell blood, Damon's and feel the blood of all those still alive beating in her ears once more. The temptation as a bringer of death was back in full force. Rose swallowed and reached out, touching Damon's pale face with her own cold hand. It was the first time she'd felt anyone again. Proof she was alive, but Bonnie...
The fallen witch was cradled in little Gilbert's arms and Rose bit her lip. It wasn't right. None of this was right, but she'd felt that, hadn't she? The moment the tree tugged at her ghostly form, she knew what was about to happen was not meant to. Death was a permanent fixture. It was never meant to be undone or righted, but Bonnie had broken the rules of nature for Caroline and in doing so, she left the door open for everyone else. "Alexia..." the other woman's name slipped from her lips, blue eyes widening at the sight of Elijah beside Stefan. For a moment, Rose had the instinct to run again as she for so many years, but no, Damon had taught her not to run anymore. He'd taught her courage and she wasn't going to abandon him even if Elijah sent her back to the other side in return.
