"I'll give you a handful when we get back then." Might as well take advantage while she still had the box and she couldn't think of someone better to share it with. Rogue didn't have a clue about the brothers' life before the zombie virus had broken out and she likely wouldn't have liked them any less if she did. Whenever she'd paid any attention to the news it was always about mutant rights, whether or not they counted as humans, more often than not they didn't, and how therefore the constitution didn't apply to them. It was sickening but not half as much as the reported hate crimes against her kind. That usually had gotten her to switch off the tv or throw a newspaper in the garbage and put her off of staying on top of things for a solid few days. The virus was one of the worst things to happen and yet it was only after that she'd seen lots of humans accepting mutants into the fold. Probably because they were dependent on abilities they would never have. It was a cynical thought but in all likelihood it was the truth. Humans feared and hated what they would never have until they finally needed it. It was typical of their species.
She was pullled put of her darker thoughts by the sound of Connor's voice. She bit back a frown and was grateful in that moment that he wasn't a mind reader. "Somehow I'm not surprised by that." Rogue grinned and shook her head a little fondly. She wasn't going to dwell on whatever the hell those earlier thoughts had come from. "I'm glad to hear he's alright, though. I'll drop on by to see him later, can't let him think you're my favorite brother."
Rogue reached for the lighter and smiled at Connor when he easily handed it over. It was weird but it felt kind of good just to hold the thing in her hands. Like a comforting weight she hadn't realized was missing. She couldn't help the snort of amusement when he asked if she was a fire starter. "Do I look like a fire starter to you," she asked him with an exaggerated innocent look. She flipped the top open one handed and a split second later the lighter was on. Okay, that kinda went against her point. She thought it would take more time to get used to the thing considering she never really handled lighters before. "That was a coincidence and bad timing." She shrugged with a grin. "But don't worry, I promise not to set any fires."
He didn't ask for the lighter back and she didn't offer to give it back. Rogue kept it in her golved hands, fiddling with it mindlessly. "How long do you and Murphy plan on staying?" They hadn't seemed keen on settling down and taking up roots in Everett, she wished they would but she'd enjoy their company while she could.
