Connor and Murphy were settled into the prison as well as they were going to be. It was a lot to say for a couple of men who hadn't ever meant to stay this long. They didn't need people, only each other, but the thing that kept them here was the thought that maybe these people needed them. They had yet to talk it out loud but there was an understanding between them. Neither questioned that they were here to stay and neither suggested they go. Sure, their mission from God was to wipe the world of the impure which now mostly consisted of zombie-kind, but these people needed the protection more than the world needed the cleansing. It seemed like the right thing to do was to stay here and wait for all the evil in the world to find its way to them. Didn't it always?
The impure always found its way to the innocent and tried to fuck 'em up and ruin all that good shit. Connor and Murphy wouldn't stand for it. Sinners, Zombies, who cares what they were. They had a bullet for any force of evil and they slept like babes after a kill.
Today he was thinking about taking a solo run out to the church to check on it. The winds had been whipping something crazy and he wanted to be sure nothing happened to the place. For now he was just wandering around the perimeter of the prison and wondering if Murphy would come out with him. Most of the time they were inseparable but in the prison there was a bit more flexibility on their abilities to go their own way. They did their own tasks a lot like when they worked at the meat factory, as long as they were in yelling distance 90% of the time things were alright.
