Carol hadn't heard the footsteps -- either set -- at all. She'd been too lost in her own thoughts about Sophia and Ed, about Allison Argent and the guilt she felt over that, and about how very out of place she felt in Everett lately.
She heard it however, when the walker made a noise of some kind behind her, but before she could turn around, someone was speaking to her. She turned finally, looking from him to the now dead walker on the ground, very close to where she was. Sighing, she nodded slightly in acknowledgment. She should have been paying more attention and it was a sign of her own exhaustion -- both mental and physical -- that she hadn't been.
Carol recognized him from the prison, but couldn't recall his name. She wasn't sure they'd ever spoken, and truthfully she wasn't even sure when he'd shown up. She didn't think he'd been there too long. "Thank you," she said sincerely. "But I didn't come out here with a partner." What would they do to her exactly? Kick her out? It would probably be the best thing for everyone anyway.
