Who: Malachi, Viktoria and Carter What: dealing When: tonight Where: The Inn Warnings: Nah
The Inn was so quiet that Malachi was certain he could hear Viktoria breathing upstairs. It hadn't been quiet in a long time. There had been Buffy and Claire but they were gone now. There had been visitors, mates, but the door was locked tight now. There had been Gabriel, Kaitlyn, Christopher and John Ross, but they were away in Dallas to deal with their virus outbreaks. There had been Dante, but now he was infected and asking Azazeal to kill him. There had been Castiel, but he was rushing off to help Dante alongside Azazeal. There had been his father, but he sacrificed himself being exposed to the virus in it's truest form knowing that Malachi would have to lock them all out until it could be shown they weren't a risk to Malachi, Viktoria and the baby.
Malachi had to take care of Viktoria and her unborn child now, and he wasn't sure he was up to the task. There was no option to fail here. Not when he safety of his little sister and her mother was at stake. Malachi knew the dangers that mothers of Nephilim faced. His own Mum was gone from him for eternity because she had chosen to sacrifice herself to save him. Azazeal would do the same. Malachi knew that his father would risk his own life to protect all that he considered his, and what pained Malachi was that Dante was depending on it being the other way. That Azazeal would sacrifice him to save the town.
Never.
They may be biologically cousins, but they had bonded as good as brothers. He was a son to Azazeal, and Azazeal would never lay hand to waste one of his children's lives. He'd sacrifice ten of these towns for each one of his children.
"Azazeal isn't coming back is he?" The soft Russian accent brought him out of his thoughts. Malachi turned slowly to gaze at the pregnant woman at the top of the stairs. Her brown eyes were staring straight through him, as if she had detected what he had been thinking about before she spoke up.
"Of course he is. Dante.."
Viktoria held up a hand and stopped him mid-sentence, "Is infected and far enough gone that he asked Azazeal to kill him. He left to help him, yes? Castiel did the same, as they should." She was not upset by their actions. Viktoria was devastated that it had been necessary. "They will not return here and risk exposing us."
It wasn't really a question, but Malachi swallowed hard before nodding slowly. "No, they will not return as long as they believe they are a risk to us. I will protect you and Liliya, Vik. No one will hurt you." He was so far out of his league. "I added additional magic to protect the Inn."
"We're locked in tight, then?" She closed her eyes as her hand rubbed her ever expanding stomach. "They will not allow Dante to die."
"I know."
"Are you hungry?" She opened her eyes and stepped back, clearly startled by what she saw next to Malachi.
He turned and tilted his head at the intruder. "You'll eventually get used to how they travel, and I guess my magic needs a touch up. I'm still not able to keep angels out."
