"That must be what it is then." Destiny smiled at James. She wasn't in the habit of upsetting people unless they were friends. Like when Roman had come to her looking for Shelley and she couldn't find Shelley. How she had told Roman that he needed Shelley more than she needed him. He was a friend and she didn't charge him anything so she could be honest with him. While James was a new friend and not being charged anything for this visit, she was hoping he would come back.
But James's betrayal that he was speaking about had nothing to do with his heart and marriage lines. Those were the result of someone very close to him betraying him. Maybe some other time he would want to unburden himself but today was not that day.
"Well, James, if it's any consolation you look really fantastic for being seventy years old." He did look really fantastic. She would ride that ride for sure but only if he paid. Destiny's sex life consisted of clients and clients only. It was rare that she would meet someone special enough that she just wanted to sleep with them. He wasn't a vampire either, she was sure of that. He was something different but the supernatural was Destiny's bread and butter. Science? Not her strongest subject in school. Actually she hadn't been very good at any of the subjects in school. Too busy casting hexes on cheerleaders and fucking the football players. Maybe that was why she had become a whore.
"Decades of lies must have taken their toll on you though. How are you getting through it?" she asked him curiously.
