Who: Spencer and Emily What: Hanging out When: Today Where: Logan and Laura's Warnings: pretty little liars will lie prettily
Spencer was glad for the break from the prison. Honestly, she wasn't sure if the right move was to return or not. Serena Archibald had gone running from the place shortly after her husband had died, shortly after he had killed Spencer's boyfriend. Matt's friends were kind but they were Matt's and Spencer didn't feel connected to them anymore. She liked Dimitri alright, she couldn't imagine anyone not liking Dimitri and he was a fair boss but sentry duty was only slightly more interesting than housekeeping. At least when Spencer was doing laundry she could read a book. It was difficult to do that when you were supposed to have your eyes on the perimeter. Dimitri was nice though and was being understanding about Spencer being away to be with Emily. No it wasn't sentry duty or Matt's friends that left her conflicted about her place in the world.
Aria and Hanna were still there. While it was arguable that Spencer had grown closer to Emily over the last year, she still loved Aria and Hanna and didn't want to leave them behind. Especially now that Hanna would need her friends. Caleb was a werewolf and while Spencer had admitted it wasn't her area of expertise, she knew that it was a life changing sort of thing that would effect her blonde friend. While Hanna was a lot stronger than she initially showed people, Spencer wanted to be there for her. She wanted to be there for Emily too and the conflict was driving her crazy. She was glad for Lydia's borrowed books to silence the nagging voice in her mind telling her that maybe she should go back to the prison.
Spencer wasn't a vampire. She wasn't a mutant. She wasn't a werewolf. She was just a girl lost in unfamiliar territory. Once her entire future had been mapped out for her so plainly. Now Spencer didn't really know where she belonged. Intellectually she knew that she probably didn't belong in this den of superbeings, that she should return to Aria and Hanna at the prison. But for someone as smart as Spencer was, she didn't always follow her intellect, most of her decisions were based on gut feelings. She might be cold hearted but she could feel everything in her gut which was partly why she had hardly eaten anything in days. Emily and Toby had to eat blood and it twisted her guts up when she thought about eating a sandwich.
Toby had brought her to the prison a couple of days ago to pick up some things from her cell and the books from Lydia. She hadn't been there long enough to check up on Aria and Hanna but she made a mental note to do that. She picked up her sidekick and was just about to shoot Hanna a message on the network when Emily walked into the room looking more like a bedraggled angel than the bloodthirsty creature of the night she was supposed to be.
"Hey," Spencer said. She flipped her sidekick shut. Hanna could wait.
