The tight grip Colleen had on Emily's hand almost came as a relief. It was a distraction from what was going on outside her cell. It was like the times when you bit down on the inside of your cheek to keep from crying or pinching yourself to make another pain not quite so painful.
"What?" Emily asked, surprised at the question about her home, but made herself concentrate on her words rather than anything else outside. It took her mind a second to hear what she was saying. "Oh, I lived most of my life in Rosewood, Pennsylvania. It was um.. nice. Most of the time."
Something crashed or shattered in what sounded like the cell next to hers and Emily flinched but became more determined to talk about home. "Most of the time it was this little picturesque town outside of Philly. Other times it was a nightmare with more secrets than the government, but it was home."
Emily tried to smile at the other girl. "Where did you call home before here? Do you miss it?"
