Who: Kurt, Santana, and Lorne... totally open to witnessing! What: Kurt has to sing it out and some lovelies join in When: This morning Where: The cafeteria, updated as they inevitably run around the prison singing Warnings: uplifting singing that tons of people will probably see, it's about to get real theatrical up in here.
Kurt was starting to feel dismal about finding his dad but Krissy had been such a wonderful support through everything. They were going out every once in a while together to conduct tiny short range search parties. Both of them must know that it wasn't going to do any good but it felt nice to just get out and feel like they were doing something. Kurt also didn't argue with spending time with friends. He was a very friend oriented person and without those friendships he wasn't sure if he would have made it this far, or wanted to. People were the light of his life and the stars in his sky despite the way he'd been treated in the past. He saw goodness and potential in them even in his darkest moments.
That was why he wanted to do something for everyone. Sure it was also a little bit selfish, he hadn't had much opportunity to sing while he was on the road since it wouldn't be the safest idea in the world. All that meant was there was a song built up in his heart just waiting to get out. He wanted to sing something for the people who just lost their friend Emily as they knew her, for the people at the prison who made it this far, and for himself of course. Something that really reflected how he was feeling...or how he wished he was feeling. For a while he deliberated over what he should pick. Papa, Can you hear me by Barbra Streisand from her musical? No...that was too selfish. And dreary...and the opener well it just wasn't true. He couldn't think that. One moment in time? That was certainly more in his register and it was just made for him....but no not today. He was walking towards the kitchen to get his morning coffee, he would keep his fingers crossed for a Grande nonfat mocha because oh how he missed starbucks and the lima bean, and the song came to him.
Count on Whitney, in all her brilliance, to sing a song that really reflected what he wanted everyone to feel right now. It was slightly lower than he was used to singing but that was an easy fix, he'd just sing it a bit more powerful and a bit higher (Of course his vocal range was incredibly impressive, he just preferred the upper register).
So as he entered the cafeteria, with a fist balled gently to his chest, he started to sing. He wasn't sure if he was going to be shushed or chased out or have a slushie thrown at him or something. But he needed to get this out of his heart and into everyone else's and he wouldn't be who he was if he didn't hold his head up high and do what his heart told him to do. He wasn't going to change for anyone, especially not now. Because...he'd always been so much stronger than he thought he was...
"Lost touch with my soul I had nowhere to turn, I had nowhere to go Lost sight of my dream Thought it would be the end of me..."
He started out a bit more quietly, looking around at the people in the cafeteria and gauging their reactions, but by the end of the second line he was in the moment. The people around him were lost to him and he was enveloped in the song and the expression. When he was in his element like this he was a sight to be seen, he practically glowed emotion and there was no shirking on the hand motions, either. He walked deeper into the cafeteria, fully committing to what he was doing.
