Suddenly Josh felt like he was back home in Boston and he'd just gotten back from a long night of denying what was going on around them. Aidan was there to pick on him for all the ways he handled his problems and Josh was left to feel like the nagging emotional wife. It was a dynamic they'd fallen into easily but one he'd never been proud of. He just didn't know how Aidan thought he deserved to say anything at all. Where had he been when times were hard? Josh had been forced to learn how to get along with him even though his methods hadn't changed much from when the vampire was around.
"So? I can't just...get eight hours a night when my baby sister is out there by herself. Who knows what's happening to her Aidan. What if she's cold and alone or scared or what if she's already dead...what if she got her flesh ripped off by ZOMBIES?" as he spoke his voice got more high-pitched until he was practically shouting and whining all at once. His hands moved to gesture with most of his words, pulling at the skin on his face when he mentioned flesh being ripped. Once he got it all out he covered his face with his hands and tried to fight the feeling that he was going to be sick. The silence that fell was something he direly needed and after a moment he took a deep breath and in a much quieter voice admitted to his friend. "I can't just pretend like everything's okay when everything is not okay. How can I...eat...or sleep...or do anything if I don't know Emily is doing the same thing? I'm her big brother i'm supposed to protect her."
