Cora didn't make the mistake of thinking this was going to be anything but unpleasant. As Destiny instructed her, Cora stepped behind Isaac. She stood there awkwardly for a second, glancing from the back of Isaac's head, to Destiny, trying to figure out how to best go about this.. for some stupid reason, it was weird to think about holding him in front of her friend, even if there was no way this could possibly be mistaken for PDA. She bit down on her lower lip, and looked away. Doing what Destiny told her to do, she closed her arms around him from behind, trapping his arms in her hold. She knew she was going to be able to hold him back, but not knowing what to expect or why was unnerving. She rested her forehead between Isaac's shoulder blades, sucked in a deep breath to center herself, and held on to him a little tighter.
She didn't necessarily want to see what Destiny was about to do, but she had to look out for him. He wasn't doing this just saving his alpha, he was saving her brother. She didn't cringe when Destiny shoved the blade through Isaac's hand. But when she grabbed the bug? Cora felt bile threatening to tear it's way up her throat. She held her breath and gritted her teeth. She pressed her cheek against his back in an attempt to comfort him. She probably should have said something soothing, but nothing could come to mind. She was afraid, and she hurt for him. Especially when he started screaming.
Cora planted her feet to the ground and held onto Isaac tightly, letting him thrash, but never gain an inch of ground towards Destiny. Letting Isaac tear her apart was no way to thank a friend for their help. When Isaac went limp in her arms, Cora froze. Her eyes darted frantically towards Destiny, who just shook her head. She couldn't let go. This wasn't over. She could feel Isaac's heart hammering faster and faster, all the way through his back and into her chest. She gulped down hard and tensed. Sure enough, Isaac wasn't just thrashing again, he was screaming. If she couldn't have felt his heartbeat, she would have known that he was fucking terrified, just by the pitch in his voice. She shuddered out a breath and kept holding him until he stopped screaming about his dad. The back of her eyes were burning, but she didn't bite down on her tongue to keep herself from sobbing when he said something so familiar. His words crashed through her head, and took her heart down with it.
Cora had no idea how long it all had took, but Isaac stopped screaming, and Destiny looked marginally more relaxed. She quickly lowered Isaac onto the ground and hovered above him. "Isaac?! Isaac, ar-... is he-... look at me!" She commanded with a wavy voice. Just as she reached down to press her hands to his cheek, the silverfish emerged, just out of the corner of his eyes. Gagging, she withdrew her hand and waited for it to crawl away before framing his face with her hands. "'The fuck..! Shit, ISAAC, look at me!"
