Who: Niall (and NPCed Mycroft Holmes)
What: Returning one of the prison's misplaced souls
When: Now
Where: One of Dick's secret lairs
Warnings: None
There were a great many things that Niall should be involving himself with, but attempting to locate the missing individuals from Everett was not one of them. When he'd made the decision to come to Everett in the first place and seek out his granddaughter he had told his advisors that he would not allow himself to be caught up in the troubles of the human world and he had been telling the truth at the time (situational truth telling being in his blood both as a fairy and as a king). But the troubles of the human world were many and in the case of Dick Roman they had come knocking at his door in the form of the attack on the inn and the multiple kidnappings. In the face of so much loss and tragedy Niall could not remain unmoved. So after rendering aid to one of the young Moroi, Niall set off to search Everett in hopes of finding the young girl who had been taken.
The search was beginning to prove fruitless even as he moved in and out of this plane. The leviathans were using a combination of magics to camouflage their victims locations and something else Niall couldn't identify. He did his best to move silently and unnoticed among the endless waves of search parties. He did not wish to distract the prison's trackers with his presence and so he suppressed his essence to leave no trace of fae.
He was near to stopping for when something prickled at the back of his mind. He quieted his breathing, steadied himself with his cane and reached out his mind. Nothing. Nothing but blackness and emptiness. Then - a tentative thread. A slurred jumble of thoughts. A human. Heavily drugged but alive but not for long if his thoughts were to be trusted. He believed his usefulness to be at an end and his life as well. Niall listened to the other mind until he got a clear picture of the lab where the poor soul was being confined. He needed to have an idea where he was going before teleporting there and in a flash of blue and white light he was gone and appeared in the middle of the laboratory. The man was strapped to a lab table and while they were alone for the moment Niall knew that there were leviathans in the building. He quickly unstrapped the man on the table - boy really. He could not have been more than fifty years old. Niall snorted in disgust. These leviathans were the worst sorts of bullies terrorizing the younger and more defenseless children. He would like very much to see these creatures wiped from the earth.
A quick mental scan revealed that there were no other humans being held in the vicinity and as much as he would enjoy staying to see how the leviathan fared against the full power of the fae it was more important that he return the semi-conscious man to the relative safety of the prison. He slid an arm around the man's waist and hauled him upright with a strength beyond his frail appearance and as the monster in the lab coat returned it let out a snarl of rage and charged them just as they disappeared in a flash of light.
