The drawing Kaitlyn had given him earlier that day was on his desk and Azazeal could not stop staring at it and searching his mind for what it might mean. No, he knew what it meant but a matter of when was the appropriate question. There was no indication of who the attacker was or when they would arrive. There were three possibilities and each worried him for very different reasons. Heaven could come for Viktoria or Malachi. Hell could come for Viktoria or Malachi. And then there was Dick who would come for anyone he decided would cause the most chaos.
Nephilim guards were stationed at every corner of the woods surrounding the Inn and he'd been sure to reinforce the magical barriers that kept any attacks from getting close enough to breach his doors. With Malachi gone he'd been careful in the enchantments and did all that he could himself to make sure that they were strong enough to withstand any attack that dared come up against him and his.
Two guards stood in his study while he consulted with them about what to expect and gained reports regarding whispers that were happening from all sides. Dick kept his cards close to his chest, but heaven and hell had rumors in ever corner of the earth. Demons and angels alike tended to talk freely when they thought they were not being monitored and Azazeal knew which talked the most and also which ones knew the most. According to the nephilim there had not been any developments regarding the baby and Malachi, but that didn't necessarily mean he needed to dismiss that completely.
Barely minutes after he'd dismissed them there was a ripple felt inside the room. Lifting his eyes from the sketch, Azazeal stood and wondered if he was simply being paranoid. A moment later he felt much more than a ripple but instead a punch to the barrier. One look outside the window and he saw Dick standing there with a cheshire grin on his face.
Enraged, Azazeal stormed out of his office and instructed everyone to stay indoors and away from any window. To Malachi he sent out another order, "Stay where you are." He did not want his son rushing into a fight.
Nephilim were now showing themselves openly and coming at Dick from all sides. By the time he stepped out onto the lawn, he saw guards ripped apart and in pieces on the ground. His eyes locked on Dick's and he could feel the heat rising in his face.
