Who: Jill with NPC of Connor, Christian, Azazeal and Adrian (Narrative) What: Snapping When: When Vera is killed Where: Prison yard by the sentry tower Warnings: Rage?
The prison was chaos. Security perimeters had been breached. Threats were being hurled. Deals trying to be made. A young girl was in the middle of it. Jill could almost close her eyes and feel like she was back in Court. That she was in Vera's place. She'd give anything to be in Vera's place. Vera was a small light in a dark world for Jillian Mastrano Dragomir. She was younger and needed Jill to protect her. The way so often Jill needed her older friends and family to protect her.
Adrian had saved her life. He'd parted through the crowds the night that Jill was killed. He gave her a second chance.
Try as she might, Jill couldn't part through the crowds fast enough. She ran so hard and fast and screamed. God, how she screamed. Put her down. Leave her alone. I'm coming Vera.
I'm coming, Vera.
Could her friend and roommate even here her? Jill didn't need to read auras to know that Vera was terrified. She was so scared, and Jill wanted to help her. She wanted to save her.
Death came for Vera before Jill could reach her. It was an ugly death. No way to think she was peacefully sleeping. People hadn't even noticed when Jill died, but everyone noticed this death.
The fury that shot through Jill was overwhelming. Her usual defense mechanism was to pull at the water in the air and utilize it as a weapon. Not this time.
Instead she pulled at the spirit inside her bondmate. Letting it swirl up inside her ugly and powerful as she gripped on tight to it. She heard Christian screaming at her to stop.
Stop.
Adrian placed his hand on her, tried to get her to look at him, but Jill shoved him back. Christian caught him before the both fell over. Jill was pulling at the ghosts all around her. Commanding them to do her bidding. The silver charms her sister made had been discarded. The pain in her head from all the restless spirits was embraced. She deserved the pain. She needed it.
Because when Vera needed her, Jill had failed to save her. Failed to protect her.
Failed.
The ghosts listened to their master and proceeded to come at Dick, but for some reason they were powerless to defeat him. It didn't even seem to Jill that they slowed him down. The rage coiled up like a snake and lashed out in a scream as she charged in the direction of him, only to have Connor reach her first. Connor with his furious blue eyes and the need to do destruction of his own. Jill pulled down the water from the air and made a funnel. Connor was knocked back, but by the time Jill regained her footing, there was no sign of the one she wanted to destroy.
He was gone. He'd killed her friend. Made the light disappear and the world around her darker, and now he was gone.
Jill was shaking as Adrian and Christian reached her. She needed to go. She needed to get away. They wanted her to go inside, but there was nothing for Jill inside. She never wanted to go back to that room. To the home she and Vera had made together. Jill wanted to go away and never look back.
How and when he showed up, Jill wasn't sure, but Azazeal seemed to be there in an instant. He had the charm in his hand. The one she discarded. Jill glared up at him, yet found herself offering her hand all the same. When it slipped on, the pain in her head lessened, the ghosts disappeared, and the pain in her heart made her knees buckle. Adrian caught her before she hit the ground.
"I won't go back. I will not go back there."
Silence passed between the three men before Azazeal offered to take her and Adrian to the Inn. She walked away without a look back. Christian could explain for her, or they could be left wondering. She honestly didn't give a fuck.
