Who: Jessica and Captain Jack
What: Distraction
When: Tonight
Where: Jack's office
Warnings: Yeah. They're getting freaky.
Jess didn't mind the quiet one bit. If she closed her eyes she could still hear the screaming from the day the zombies broke in. She could still hear the gnashing and crashing of teeth as they ripped apart Gigi's flesh. Even though zombies weren't interested in vampires like Jessica, they were still a world of fright for a girl who hadn't seen much outside of Louisiana. So no, Jessica didn't mind the quiet. She found it rather comforting after all.
It had only been a few days ago that Jess had discovered her own roommate, an unassuming brunette woman named Gwen was good friends with the Captain. It had taken all of her willpower not to grill the girl. She wanted to know everything about the Captain and since they were roommates, it seemed only right that they should be friends. But Jessica and Gwen hadn't gotten that friendly yet and it wasn't like Jessica could stay up all night gossiping with her cellmate, like a couple of old girlfriends. No. Jess slept during the day and Gwen slept at night so the two women hardly ever ran into one another anyway.
Jack worried too much. That was one thing about him that Jessica definitely knew. He was kind of like Bill in that way. He was always worried about everything, trying to control it, to stop the bad instead of just letting the chips fall where they may like Eric had been. Jessica missed Bill something fierce. It was a hard world without your maker but at least she had Pam to commiserate with. Pam who didn't exactly wear her heart on her sleeve but Jess could tell that she missed Eric too. There was nothing like the bond between a vampire and her maker. For all Jess knew Eric and Bill were both dead. Not by zombies but maybe The Authority had staked them both. It wasn't completely out of the question for them to do something like that.
She missed Bill but he could take care of himself. Jessica had found a different home, a new home where people judged her in a different way. She didn't mind so much anymore. She knew lots of people were still ignorant about vampires but Jess was just like any other nineteen year old girl who just happened to enjoy sleeping in coffins. She really missed her coffin too but she thought people might look at her a touch strangely if she dragged one into the prison. The other vampires here didn't seem to mind sleeping in a regular old bed.
With determination and some newfound self confidence Jess walked into Captain Jack's office. He opened his mouth to greet her but she just pressed on, grabbing his shoulders and kissing him fiercely.
"I wanted to do that for a long time," she admitted when she finally released him.
