Who: Rose and Dimitri Where: In town When: Yesterday What: Dimitri and Rose follow Lissa and Christian out of town and then run into a witch Warnings: Cursing
Rose was glad that Christian was taking Lissa out of the prison for a few days. She would miss her best friend and she would worry for her but Lissa needed a break. She needed a break from the prison, from the newly established Vampire Authority and most importantly a break from the infirmary. The witches in the woods were tearing people apart but everyone kept going back out there like a bunch of dumbasses. Rose irrationally wanted to strangle every single person that came in with an injury from tangling with the witch because it meant Lissa would feel obligated to heal them despite the toll it was taking on her. She was a good person like that.
She especially (and selfishly) hoped that nobody would come in already dead and Lissa would mistakenly shadow kiss them. Rose was pretty sure she would feed herself to a witch if that ever happened out of sheer jealousy. Nobody could be bonded to Lissa the way that she was, but it was a secret tiny fear that lived in the back of her mind. It was hidden in the same secret trove where she simultaneously wished to be shadow kissed so she could draw the darkness out of her best friend and wished that she never had to feel that darkness again like she had the night of Victor Dashkov's death.
There was nothing to be done now except for follow Dimitri out of the prison while he followed Christian and Lissa. Rose was fairly confident that Christian could take care of Lissa with his cool fire powers. Lissa was no slouch either these days with Rose teaching her more than a few self defense moves. She still didn't have the raw dhampir strength but she was better than most Moroi could have ever dreamed to be.
She and Dimitri stayed quiet as they went about far guarding Christian and Lissa. The Moroi weren't dumb, they knew that Dimitri and Rose were following them. But the two guardians tried to maintain a certain amount of distance. Close enough so that they could jump in if any danger presented itself yet far enough to give the couple some semblance of privacy. It was a fine line to walk when it came to privacy and security. It was hard to have one and still have the other as well. Rose did her best to give Christian and Lissa their privacy though because wow had she been privy to far too much information at one point in their lives. She still got embarrassed sometimes when she thought about that sex dream she had about Christian but it had really been because she had accidentally slipped into Lissa's mind. Christian was cool and Rose liked him but not like that.
Once the couple was safely out of Everett, Rose turned and looked up at Dimitri who was nearly a foot taller than she was. She smiled, that crooked Hathaway smile that spelled trouble on a good day. "They'll be fine, right?" They just needed to stay out of the woods which were teeming with witches. Rose hadn't heard any witches on the way but that didn't mean they weren't wandering in and out of town because they most certainly were.
