Jess didn't have much use for the kitchen. As a vampire she didn't really eat human food. She knew that some of the other vampires in the prison like Damon still enjoyed the taste of human food. Jess wished she could still enjoy things like pancakes and french toast and ice cream. She could remember the enjoyment of them when she was human but now they just didn't taste the same and since they provided no sustenance there was no need for it.
Jess didn't need food but her friends and her roommate did. She hadn't spent too much time with Gwen yet but she seemed nice enough and Jess could get along with anyone who wasn't a bigot. She was still trying to get over Daryl calling her one of "them things". Even if he had apologized it had still hurt.
Night had just barely fallen and for Jess it was her morning as she slept during the day. She wandered into the kitchen almost accidentally, just trying to stretch her legs when she noticed a brunette sniffling back tears. Even though she wasn't terribly close to the woman with her sensitive vampire hearing she could hear everything the woman was saying.
"I'm sorry," Jess said as she approached her. "I know it ain't none of my business but I can't help but see you crying. You okay?"
