Deirdre was amused. This place was far different than back East. Even Amber who was like most places but not was vastly different. Since her family had all returned home to deal with threats to their own, she had been lacking in company. She hadn't been dragged from the edge of the Abyss to be alone forever. But she had decided that her skills were needed here, not home. So she had stayed behind. They had warded the borders closed, but she knew that her family could come back and forth if they needed to. But they were busy. And she was cut off, effectively. But that wasn't bad, really. She liked the challenge of this place. This dark and wild place. There were things to kill, battles to be waged - it was her kind of fun. Until she'd trekked from one side to the other of the States. That was probably the worst plan she's ever had. She decided not to draw on her ability to shift through Shadow to get there faster. She wanted to kill every walking dead in her path - they were abominations. She'd known of others - vampires and the like - they were different. These were true abominations. And they made her mad. So she had waded through the Heartland and made it out West.
Now she was here. She had spoken to one person already. He was interesting and she was heading towards his place to peek in, Deirdre liked to hedge her bets. Never deny one place because someone didn't like it. Keep all her options open. She wasn't sure what she wanted just yet. Dark eyes peered out from unkempt locks of black as she looked around. Damn it. She glowered at the moon and the stars. She was lost. It was going to take her a bit to sort herself out and get back on the right path. One would think after a year this would be second nature, but no, not to her. She wasn't the navigator of the family. Sure, she could manage, but after a year of it, she was tired of staring at the night sky until something jumped at her. "Empty night these stars are not helpful tonight." she said to herself then cursed, in another language, and set her pack down and crouched by a tree to take a sip of water from her canteen.
