Carol paused when he did, cocking her head to the side as he held out an item wrapped in pretty material toward her. She took it carefully, smiling when she realized it was a scarf that he'd used as wrapping. She carefully unfolded the cloth and looked at the gun for a moment.
Then she looked at him. "Thank you," she said, her eyes full of warmth. She wasn't going to gush because she knew that would just make him uncomfortable. "You're right, I do need to practice." Maybe one day she could even be good enough at shooting that she could be a sentry. That day was a long way off, though.
