She knew that was about as far as he'd let her go with the sentimental talk. And that was fine. She'd said what she wanted to say already. And she was relieved that the trip would only last for a couple days. Granted, she hadn't seen him in days until now, but she still knew he was in the prison somewhere and that helped ease her mind.
Carol nodded in response. "Yeah, we did," she agreed. She offered him another tiny smile at his next words. She knew he'd likely be just fine. He'd gone through a lot and he'd always been fine. Physically, anyway. The rest they didn't really talk about.
"I've been talking with Mercy and Sookie," she told him. "They seem very nice." She moved over and sat down on the edge of her bed. "And a young girl. Krissy." Thinking about the younger girl made her think about Sophia, but she didn't say so.
