The silence between them always felt comfortable to her, too. It wasn't an experience she shared with many others. Any, actually. Most people weren't content to sit in silence. Or stand, as the case may be.

Carol wasn't sure where Bothell was. She hoped it wasn't too far, but she didn't say so. "All I need is for you to come back safely," she answered honestly. She'd gone a long time without any kind of luxuries and frankly she didn't really even miss them that much. Now at the prison she had access to regular food, a bed to sleep in, and a shower.
