Being noticed went over more smoothly than he thought, then again he hadn't considered that it was Carol and not some person who didn't trust him. The corner of his lip twitched at her smile and he shifted his weight to try and allocate all the emotions in his chest to new places where he wouldn't feel them as much.
It didn't work, but the movement made him feel a little better in general, he was geared up and ready to go once again and he wondered if he'd ever be able to sit down with her while he wasn't on the move. Would he even want to if he could?
For a couple long moments he embraced the silence between them, it was a silence that spoke more than any words. There was an understanding between the two of them that he didn't seem to get with anyone else, his silence with her felt more liberating than annoying.
At times he would walk in, share in this little encounter, and then simply leave again and know that there was nothing awkward about it. Today wasn't one of those days, he felt obligated to say something. She seemed to be holding up okay but who knew what was going on in her mind, he knew they were both good at hiding their feelings.
"Hey. We're headed up to Bothell." he looked around the room and then back to her "If you need somethin' you should speak up now" he didn't know what she would possibly need but he was getting gifts for some others to secure their help thank them for watching over Carol. May as well ask if she wanted something, too.
