Who: Dimitri and Christian, later Connor What: Declarations of love and devotion Where: The prison yard When: Thursday right after the ill-fated council meeting Warnings: Connor wakes up cranky?
Dimitri had no idea what had gone on in the council meeting, but he didn't have time to wait around and make sure that Connor was okay. He and Tyler had gotten into some sort of disagreement over him, or was it Alcide? No matter who it was over, Dimitri would find out about it later. He needed to find Christian first and make sure that he was okay or see if he needed anything. Anything at all and he would find it for the royal Moroi. He was Christian's guardian and that meant he would devote his entire life serving and protecting him.
Christian's aunt had once asked him to become her guardian, but he'd declined her request and stayed on at the school. He'd been in love with Rose at the time even if they hadn't yet acted on it. She'd offered him the one promise that most dhampir men never were given. Children. Dimitri couldn't accept the offer because it would have been a lie. He cared for Tasha Ozera, but he didn't love her. He loved Christian. They'd grown closer since he, Lissa, and Jill came to Everett and he'd resumed his role as guardian over him. They'd confided in one another as they never had before and sometimes he sought Christian out to talk about what was happening within the prison or behind the scenes on the council when he didn't do so with the others. Now he knew why that was.
He loved him. Finally admitting this to himself made him feel so free.
Knowing the sentry schedule by heart didn't hurt in finding him. Christian was supposed to go on duty in about twenty minutes, so he would catch him before he climbed the tower even if in the tower it meant they could be alone, but Dimitri understood duty and would not want to disturb his love from focusing on his. A distraction was a threat to his safety and he would not allow that to ever happen again. Christian would remain safe always.
He stood outside the prison and a few minutes before his shift began, Dimitri saw him walk outside. Without hesitation, he ran over to him. Initially, he looked concerned and checked him over to make sure that he wasn't hurt in any way. He trusted those in the prison, but not always when it came to his charge. One could never be too careful especially after seeing Tyler attack Connor in the meeting.
The spot check was complete, so he relaxed and smiled instantly. "Hi."
