He felt himself huff with annoyance at her constant questioning. Something about being annoyed with her was comforting though. She was here to be annoyed with, and that meant the world. "You been askin' everyone this many questions?"
As they spoke he heard something and he rose a hand to stop her, refusing to pull his eyes away from the noise he'd heard as he stalked up. It could be a walker, an animal, or even another person. The closer he neared the more he could hear his own heart beat and he steadied it as he zoned in on the hunt. This was just part of his job and he was damn good at it. His eyes caught a glint of glowing eyes and he slid his knife back into it's slot as quietly and gently as he could. With just as much deliberateness he pulled his crossbow from over his shoulder and aimed it, loosing a bolt before a second passed. There was a squeal of a sound in response and he turned to flash her a reassuring look before going over to retrieve it. Turns out the thing he shot was some kind of raccoon so he pulled his bolt and put it back, grabbed it by the tail and roped it up, and slung it over his shoulder with his crossbow.
"Not so bad." he commented as he motioned for her to come again and they continued on their way. "I'm leavin' tomorrow. For a couple days, all us raiders go in shifts." He owed her that much, at least, to know that he would be gone for her first couple days there. But he'd be back as soon as he could manage and then he'd try to never have to leave her again. She was family, and right now she was the only family he had left.
