Daryl knew he could get angry sometimes. Maybe a little bit more often than sometimes. But he also knew that he would never take it out on her before some object around him. No matter how angry he had been forced to be in his life, he never wanted to harm another person senselessly the way he'd been hurt growing up. They had more in common than anyone but they knew. Maybe that was one of the reasons they got on so well with one another.
He nodded, satisfied, at her reassurance. If she wasn't hurt maybe they didn't have to rush back and he could just linger in this feeling for a while. In the morning he knew he had to go out on his long term raid, it was horrible timing really, but he did it for Carol. And Vera and Sookie. All the people he cared about. He motioned for her to walk with him in the darkness, holding his knife at the ready again and looking ahead as they moved...it was a perfect reason not to maintain eye contact. "Months. Way too damn long." he sighed. Carol was probably the only one that could figure that life in a prison, no matter how safe it was, wasn't his favorite idea. He just wanted to be able to come and go as he pleased and to get far enough away to not feel responsible for anyone's lives.
He decided to throw her a bone of sorts "It's nice. You'll like it." since he didn't want to worry her with his comment. Just because he didn't like it didn't mean that she wouldn't. It was just the thing for her.
