He was happy to see her warm up to him so quickly, and to see that knife go down. Still, when she approached him for the hug he found himself shying away with a light flinch. He had to start getting used to how touchy she was, it was just a learned reflex on his part. The hug left him semi-stunned, his arms stayed away from her as if hugging her back would break her...or break this strange spell. The only physical thing he had any reliable experience with was hurting people, and getting hurt. He snorted lightly at being a sight for sore eyes, he didn't know about all that but he was sure as hell glad to see her.
She seemed to realize how uncomfortable he was and backed off, just as he risked to bring his hands a little bit closer to holding her. The moment was lost. He shifted his weight on his feet uncertainly and cleared his throat, staring at the ground for a couple long seconds before he dared to look up at her again. His voice was a rough whisper "I'm fine. And you? are you hurt?"
