There was pain and grief in the air. Strings of despair intertwining with desperation and hopelessness. The air was thick and heavy, and Wanda could see it. See the strings bending and threatening to break. Death was a tragedy. Loss left the living reeling. Wanda could feel it, and it made her heart ache.
She walked through halls of the prison and took in the grief that was etched so clearly on so many faces. There was one they needed who was being kept away. Compelled to kill one of them if he saw his ex love's face. His brother's girlfriend. They shouldn't be separated in times of trouble and grief. She wanted to help them. To bring them back something when they've lost so much.
Finding a quiet corner in the prison in one of the empty cell blocks, Wanda cleared her head. She focused on the pain and the grief. The sadness and the rage. The hopelessness. She thought about love. Happiness. Hope. She focused and felt the threads of reality begin to bend in another way. Her way.
"To love, not hate. To save, not kill."
The words were whispered, but they were edged with so much emotion. So much hope. So much love.
Love.
Love.
Love.
She felt the wind whip around her and the energy shifted suddenly. Wanda let out a gasp as she felt the magic surge through her and expel into the atmosphere of Everett.
Love.
There would be love.
As she opened her eyes, she felt a bit unsteady. Staggering to her feet, she stumbled in a daze out of the empty cell and made her way back to the populated area of the prison. She paused near the kitchen, back pressed against the wall, needing a moment to rest. Wanda saw the door open and caught a glimpse of the most devastatingly beautiful man she'd ever seen.
Love at first sight. She had believed in it. She was a dreamer. Now she had experienced.
She loved him. She loved Neal Caffrey.
