Who: Diana Meade & Cassie Blake and special appearance by Eric Northman What: Sisters hanging out When: Tonight Where: Fangtasia Warnings: Eric's sex appeal gets a warning
Diana had taken to spending at least a couple nights a week at Fangtasia. She had become a regular at the bar. It was a great way to learn who was who in Everett and Diana drank for free in return for magic favors. So far Pam hadn’t called on Diana for any favors but Diana was prepared should the need ever arise. Faye had a similar deal worked out with them. Faye was another regular at Fangtasia and on the nights they were there together, especially when they danced they were a crowd favorite.
The witch sat at her usual table, sipping her usual drink. Finally the weather had begun to warm in Everett and so she wore a dress and a pair of not so sensible heels. She was at a bar not traipsing through town dealing with zombies. Besides, she actually liked some of the attention she drew at the club.
Instead of Faye joining her, she was surprised to see Cassie walking purposefully towards her before the tiny blonde scooted into the booth across from Diana. Diana never knew exactly what to expect from Cassie. Whether she would side more with Melissa and try and take the sensible and safe route or if she would let herself go and join up with Diana and Faye. Diana tried not to pass any judgment. Cassie could live her life however she wanted so long as she extended Diana the same courtesy.
“Is everything okay?” she asked, automatically assuming that there was probably some kind of circle emergency. There always was.
Cassie knew where to find Diana, not only because of things she’d heard about her new hangout, but she’d actually gone looking for her and Faye had told her where she would most likely be. Once she’d stepped inside Fangtasia, Cassie looked around, spotting her sister almost immediately and sliding into the booth across from her. “Why does something have to not be okay?” She asked, lips curving into a frown. “Can’t I just come hang out with you?” The truth was, she did have something to talk to Diana about. She’d talked to Bonnie and learned what she’d found out about Balcoin in Seattle.
“Sorry,” Diana said automatically. She hadn’t meant to assume that something was wrong, it was just that something usually was wrong. Diana used to try all the time to have her own life and it just couldn’t happen. She had almost lost Grant because The Circle constantly needed her for some emergency or another. Some old habits never died. Yet things had changed, the dynamic of the circle had changed. Melissa was having her turn at Adam and while Diana was over him she wasn’t so sure that Cassie was. Faye at least was her predictable self. Everyone else was going through changes, growing pains. Diana didn’t worry that it was the effects from the crystal skull and the dark magic that flowed through Diana and Cassie. She didn’t worry at all because aside from Jake they were all accounted for. “Let me get you a drink.” She waved the bartender over.
Pressing her lips together, Cassie just gave a half shrug and folded her arms on top of the table. It was true, there was always something wrong, something going on. Always some kind of Circle emergency. But lately, Cassie had felt off and kind of on her own. Adam and Melissa had their thing, which to be honest, still really stung, but it was what it was and she just kept her mouth shut. And Diana, even though she was Cassie’s sister, had Faye. Which Cassie was still trying to understand. But it seemed like everyone had paired up and that left her just kind of there. Maybe this whole thing with Bonnie would turn out more in her favor than she thought.
“Okay. Sounds great,” Cassie responded when Diana offered a drink. Typically she didn’t really drink, but lately, with not feeling like herself, she was doing lots of out of character things. The drink arrived and Cassie took a drink, pulling a face at the taste. “Do I even want to know what’s in this?” She teased, trying to lighten up some.
“It’s not anything that’s going to kill you,” Diana promised with a slight grin as she drank some of her own which was the exact same thing that Cassie was drinking. Diana liked her drinks to be strong with rum so she guessed that it was going to hit tiny Cassie who hardly ever drank pretty hard. She guessed she would play big sister for the night and look after her. She didn’t want Cassie getting taken advantage of after all. She clinked her glass against Cassie’s. “To new beginnings.” It really was a new beginning for all of them. They had all changed so much since the outbreak happened and yet they had fallen back into a rhythm with one another. Diana wasn’t much for playing leader or telling the others what to do anymore. She had taken on a new role in the group and it suited her just fine. Cassie was more the leader than she was anyway.
Cassie lifted her glass, meeting Diana’s eyes and letting herself relax a little, which was evident by the smile at her lips. “New beginnings.” She echoed, clinking her glass against Diana’s before tipping it to her lips, chugging it down quickly. “I’m not so sure that stuff won’t kill me.” Cassie said, wrinkling her nose at the taste. Maybe this wasn’t so bad, just relaxing and having fun. Everything felt so serious all the time, for her anyway. These new beginnings could start now, with drinks and sister time. There could at least be a little fun before more heavy stuff right? “Potential death or not, I’ll take another.” Cassie grinned, arching a brow at Diana.
Diana grinned wickedly at her sister. She was starting to sound a little like Faye. Just a little. Because by now Faye would have shots lined up on the table and probably be dancing on the bar. Not that Diana minded. Faye’s constant need for attention was pretty funny and sometimes Diana didn’t mind the attention one bit anyway. The bartender brought another round of drinks with her and Diana sipped at hers daintily. She was already feeling a little bit tipsy. She could only imagine how Cassie was feeling. She was so small. Her alcohol tolerance had to be pretty terrible. “So what’s with Adam and Melissa?” Diana finally asked. She couldn’t hold it in anymore. She had to act. She had known Adam and Melissa for a long time and had never noticed anything more than friendship.
The alcohol was making Cassie’s face feel warm and the rest of her body feel fuzzy. It felt good and she wanted to feel better, so she took a big gulp of the new drink, almost marvelling at how easier it went down. She was almost lost in that new discovery and the way her head was starting to feel swimmy and happy when Diana just had to bring it up. Her eyes lifted to meet her sister’s and she rolled her eyes. “I know right?” She laughed, trying to show how much it didn’t bother her, when it really did. “That totally came out of nowhere. Hey, now he just has Faye and Jake left before he completes the circle.” Grabbing her drink, Cassie finished it off. She liked this fun thing, it made things seem much easier to deal with.
“I don’t think Jake’s coming,” Diana said, her dark eyes losing of that trademark sparkle. She immediately felt guilty for saying it and looked away from Cassie. “I’m sorry but... I don’t feel his essence anymore. Do you?” Diana had spent some time learning how to scry. It was how she had eventually found all of her friends. Many faces had appeared in that bowl of water but Jake’s hadn’t been one of them. She knew that Cassie had feelings for Jake and she felt bad finally telling her sister the truth but maybe it was time she moved on from Adam and Jake and found a new boy. “What about that guy over there.” Diana nodded towards the bar where a cute vampire was giving them the eye. “Oh my God, Cassie, you haven’t had sex until you’ve done it with a vampire.”
Cassie’s smile faded because she’d known it too, only she just hadn’t wanted to admit or let herself believe it. But now that Diana had voiced her own thoughts, there was no avoiding it anymore. Her eyes moved down to the drink in her hand and she rubbed her thumb along the side, playing with the condensation. After a few long seconds of silence, Cassie took a deep breath and looked back up at Diana, shaking her head. It was a hard thing to process, the thought of Jake being gone and now that Diana had confirmed her own thoughts on it, Cassie’s blue eyes filled with tears that she quickly tried to blink away. She’d had feelings for Jake, feelings that had been pretty strong before she’d ultimately chosen Adam. A lot of good that had done her, now he was with Melissa and Jake was gone. She couldn’t help wondering what things would be like if she’d chosen Jake instead, but she hadn’t had much time to ponder that particular thought before Diana, most likely feeling bad for bringing it up in the first place, moved on to trying to play matchmaker instead. Cassie let out a small chuckle, shaking her head and tipping her glass to her lips, finishing what was left of her drink before her curiosity got the best of her and she just had to look at the guy Diana was referring to. Pressing her lips together and arching a brow, Cassie was obviously impressed (or maybe it was the alcohol) with the guy her sister was trying to hook her up with. She smiled back at him as their eyes met, but it was what Diana said next that caused her to snap her head back to look at her sister with wide eyes. “What?! You...” Quickly realizing the very public place they were in, Cassie dropped her voice and leaned in closer. “You had sex with a vampire?!” She wasn’t sure if she was more freaked out, worried or maybe a little intrigued by that fact. “Diana! Weren’t you like, scared? And for the record? I’ve slept with one person and woke up to dead birds all over the yard, so I’m not sure I wanna take that chance again.”
Diana laughed a little bit. Oh, Cassie. If only she knew the truth. Not only had Diana lost her virginity to Klaus Mikaelson, the original hybrid but she’d also had a taste of his brother Kol. They weren’t just any old vampires. They were the vampires. So far nobody except for maybe Adam knew what Diana was up to and that was only because he had become friends with their sister Rebekah. “You need to get over Adam and there’s only one way to do that. It’s called rebound sex. You think Adam can compete with that.” She pointed at the vampire who wasn’t just super hot but also looked pretty old. “Don’t be afraid, Cassie. You have enough magic in your pinky to slap him back into line if he gets too fresh with you.” Diana gave Cassie a daring look.
Cassie chewed on the inside of her jaw as she looked at the vampire and let Diana’s words sink in. Maybe she was right, maybe that was how she was going to get over Adam. She was definitely right about one thing, there was no comparison between Adam and that much older, super hot vampire her sister was pointing out to her. “I don’t know, Diana. Magic or not, that guy is seriously out of my league.” Cassie, meanwhile, hadn’t taken her eyes from the super hot, crazy tall blonde vampire across the room. Yeah, he was way out of her league.
“He doesn’t think so,” Diana pointed out. The tall hot vampire viking guy was totally checking them out and not just them, Cassie. “You really have no idea how gorgeous you are, do you?” Diana asked. “You’re a hot sexy witch. That guy is definitely not out of your league. Maybe you just need some more liquid courage.” Diana signalled the bartender over and ordered another round of shots. As soon as they got to the table Diana took hers. She knew getting drunk was possibly dangerous she couldn’t control her powers as well as she could when sober. But she could control them enough to help Cassie if that vampire turned out to have more deadly intentions than just hooking up. “Come on, Cassie. He’s totally giving you the eye. Isn’t it time you got over Adam?”
Cassie knew she wasn’t by any means ugly, but she’d never really considered herself any of the things Diana was using to describe her. Gorgeous, hot, sexy? No way. She’d felt those things with Adam, though. He’d made her feel beautiful and special and...no, she wasn’t going to think about those things now, or anymore. Adam had moved on, he didn’t love her anymore and it was time she did the same. Eyes still on the sexy, blonde vampire, Cassie lifted the shot glass and tipped it to her lips, swallowing it quickly. It didn’t even taste bad anymore, though it did burn as it made it’s way down, warming her body from the inside out. So this was what getting drunk felt like. Cassie felt good, Diana’s words bouncing around in her mind again as her lips curled into a smirk. The way the vampire was looking at her suddenly made those words seem true and Cassie slid out of the booth, standing up and turning back to Diana. “It’s definitely time I got over Adam.” She grinned at her sister and turned around, making her way towards the vampire who was about to help her do just that.
