Who: Azazeal, Viktoria, and later Castiel What: A demon confrontation and then LMAO When: Now Where: Starting out at the Inn and then the prison gates Warnings: Fallen angel on demon violence
Sitting inside of his study, Azazeal put down the book he had been reading and rubbed his eyes. He'd been having a hard time focusing on anything for the last several days and couldn't understand why. Malachi had returned from his trip to Sunnydale with Dawn and the demon encounter had him concerned. His son had insisted that nothing had happened to cause worry, but Azazeal wasn't so sure. Why would they be coming to him now? In his mind there was only one reason and he didn't want to be of any part of their plans any longer. It was not the proper time nor was he sure if it would ever be.
Viktoria had come to visit the previous night and he'd tried to help her relax as best as possible. She said she was feeling a small amount better, but her exhaustion was felt through the bond. Her appetite hadn't been up to its usual amounts either which was another cause for concern. He'd tried to soothe her and help her sleep, but he was fearful of doing too much outside of natural means and cause her more harm than good.
Life at the Inn was relatively back to normal, as normal as it could be in these times. The Texans had returned from their stay at the prison and everyone was struggling to find a new semblance of a routine after the battle against Glory. He still remembered and felt the anger that pulsed through his son's thoughts and the panic he felt until Castiel caused him to go down and Azazeal had brought him back to the Inn. Could it have sent off a shockwave throughout the pit? Surely it wasn't strong enough for that. Castiel had acted too quickly for it to have left the area.
He was standing at his window, gazing out at the woods when he heard a low growl that sounded like it was next to him. Focusing his gaze outside he saw the faintest appearance of a lion in the distance. Azazeal's attention was locked on the animal as it approached but then it had disappeared as quickly as it had appeared. Eyes widening, Azazeal leaned forward to search out the window but then he felt a presence behind him in the study. He'd had the protection spells put in place but he supposed those spells could not stop one of the princes of hell. When he turned around he no longer saw a lion, but a man. One he recognized well yet had not seen in decades.
"Barbas." His blood ran cold. First one of Crocell's demons had appeared before Malachi and now Barbas himself was standing before him.
"Hello, Azazeal." The demon glanced around the study and Azazeal noticed the look of disdain on his features. "An Inn. How... quaint of you." His eyes leveled against on Azazeal. "It seems you have been quite productive here. A congratulations is in order."
Azazeal did not give away his confusion in his appearance, but had no idea what the demon was speaking of to him. "I have never been one to waste my time with trivial matters," he responded and that brought forth a hollow laugh from Barbas.
"Have you not? Your entire existence has become trivial, Azazeal. Laughable. You were once on the path to become much more than what you are now. Nothing more than an innkeeper of misfits. You again have the chance to live up to the name you once built for yourself and I plan to make sure that you take it."
"You wish to see the End of Days brought on now, Barbas? In the midst of this hell the humans have brought on themselves with the virus?"
"Of course. It is the perfect time to end this madness and start a new world. However, your son has proved that he is unable to complete this task and your next heir will be in charge of the task." Barbas walked around the room without a care in the world, no reason to think he was in any danger at all.
"I have no next heir, Barbas, nor do I plan to create one." Azazeal was growing angry now. The threat against Malachi was thin, but it was still there and he would not tolerate such words against his son.
Barbas laughed again. "Oh, but you have, Azazeal. Your little child whore has been feeling the effects of the new child already. How could you have missed the signs?" He stayed silent for a moment to let his words sink in. Azazeal replayed the last couple of weeks over in his mind and wondered how he had missed the signs. That Viktoria was with child. Barbas didn't let Azazeal find his tongue, but continued speaking himself. "Your son has proven twice that he is unworthy of bringing about the End of Days therefore it will fall upon this child to do so, however, as long Malachi lives this child will be mortal. Some twisted version of a vampire race you have decided to entangle yourself with. You will not waste this chance you've been given to fulfill your duties."
For a second time, Azazeal's blood went cold and he stared hard at Barbas. The threat no longer a threat, but a demand and he had no intention of obeying. "I will not kill my own son."
"There are other ways. We will have it taken care of for you," Barbas said dismissively and Azazeal again disagreed. Barbas stepped close to Azazeal and smirked meanly. "You grow far too attached to humanity. First to the boy's mother, to the boy himself, and now this whore who has not even been able to discern that you are the child's father. Make no mistake, Azazeal, this child will become the new chosen one whether with your cooperation or not."
"No." That was the only word spoken before he felt his human features fade and his true form appear. Grabbing hold of Barbas by the throat, he didn't give him the chance to shift back into his more powerful lion form. His hand tightened and demonic fire erupted from his hands that caught hold of the other demon, engulfing him and him alone in flames. There was a loud roar that sounded throughout the entire Inn and Azazeal felt the heat from the fire but did not blink at the pain as he held him down until he disappeared into nothing but black smoke.
Having the sense to shift back into his human form before the others could see him, Azazeal stormed through doorway and passed by the Ewings, Claire, Gabriel, and Kaitlyn in the sitting room. He knew they had heard what had just happened in his study, but he did not care. "Stay here and do not leave until I return." It was an order, not a request.
He heard Malachi in his mind and interrupted, "You will not step foot from this Inn until I return."
A second later he was outside of the Inn and stalking towards the prison. He knew his anger was passing through the bond, but he called out to Viktoria anyway. "Meet me at the gates of the prison immediately." He did not wish to storm down their gates but he would if necessary. They would not have either of his children.
