Who: The Secret Circle
What: Battle Time
When: Monday
Where: Glory's hideout
Warnings: Just some blood and guts
Melissa wasn't entirely sure what to expect. The entire circle had talked about it for days and when the time came they put their plan in action. Melissa and Faye had worked out a protection spell while they had been spending what was supposed to be together time before the world possibly ended. Melissa had expected drinking and dancing and possibly going to that vampire bar so Faye could cruise for hot guys. Melissa would play along because it was what Melissa did and had always done with Faye. It was the reason why they were best friends. There had been a bit of drinking and talking about times gone by even though Faye hated nostalgia. Surprisingly they had also come up with the spell that was keeping them safe now.
Now her circle stood in a ring of salt that had been enchanted by the entire circle to keep them all safe. Adam had the crystal skull and when he pulled it out from beneath the black cloth where it had been kept Melissa felt something warm and pleasant roll through her. It put her at ease and excited her all at the same time. They had all been warned how addictive the magic of the crystal skull could be. Melissa knew where Adam kept it but she had managed to resist it. She didn't really need dark magic when she had other witches with her and on top of that they had Sesshy to protect them and Sesshy was like the most powerful thing Melissa had ever known. Probably more powerful than even John Blackwell.
There were no words, no incantations. Melissa, Diana, Cassie, Adam and Faye all placed their hands on top of the crystal skull. The young witch could immediately feel the change in Cassie and Diana and surprisingly, Adam when they channeled the power of the crystal skull. She and Faye briefly exchanged looks as they felt the power of the crystal swirl all around them. Where before Melissa had been able to spot Malachi and Bonnie in the crowd, now she could see nothing and no one. Like a sonic boom the power of the crystal spread outwards sparing those fighting for the world and annihilating those that would worship their beast to see it destroyed.
The five of them joined hands and concentrated, each holding a bit of the power of the crystal skull inside of themselves. Melissa's power had increased exponentially. She no longer thought that the skull was the most destructive force on earth but that she was even if her rational mind told her that was simply not true.
What none of them noticed, what none of them could see was that the wind they had created was a disturbance to the ring of salt protecting them and little by little the salt was blown away. Melissa didn't even know it until she was having the wind knocked out of her by something large. The demon with antlers, actual fucking antlers had slammed into her. She landed on the ground hard not really registering what had happened. She felt strange, like for some reason she couldn't move but didn't know why. The wind whipped her dark hair in her face and suddenly Diana and Faye were in full view.
"Oh my God, Melissa. Hang on," Faye said, her voice filled with worry.
Hang on? What the hell was she talking about and why did Faye's eyes look like that? So sad. It wasn't often that Faye got sad or scared and she seemed to be both now. Melissa felt something warm and sticky on her hand and she finally looked down and realization washed over her. The demon hadn't just tackled her, it had used its antlers to run her through.
"Oh... oh my God." Melissa suddenly felt a waving nausea and the distinct urge to pass out. That was a lot of blood. Was she going to die.
"You're gonna be fine!" Diana shouted at the two of them over the fight in the background. Another demon approached and the dark witch twisted her fingers into a fist. The demon's head suddenly snapped to the side and its large hulking body hit the ground.
"Jesus, Diana. Way to show off," Melissa said feeling a little crabby as she leaned her head back in Faye's lap and closed her eyes a little. She wanted a nap but she couldn't have one. Diana and Faye were still okay, they needed to fight.
Diana was taking her top off and wrapped it around the Melissa's midsection, wrapping it around the bloody wound. It oozed more blood as Diana tightened it. Melissa groaned in pain as a sting of it shot straight through her tiny body like a thunderbolt. Faye put her hand around Melissa's, slick with blood but Melissa held on tightly. Diana stood in front of them, ready to take on whatever was coming their way. All three of them had lost track of the crystal skull.
